CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON

SONY CLASSICS

RELEASED 5 January 2001

crouchingDescribed by the director as ‘Jane Austen meets Bruce Lee’, Crouching Tiger became on of the biggest-grossing foreign language film ever. Chow-Yun Fat plays a man disillusioned with the way of the warrior and ready to give it all up for his unrequieted love played by Michelle Yeoh, herself a formidable opponent. This is put on hold when his fabled sword Green Destiny is stolen, and all fingers point to the mysterious Jade Fox, murderer of Chow Yun’s former master. He must seek vengeance before he can move forward with his life. This truly has something for everyone. It’s got at least six of the best fight sequences you’ll have EVER seen, there are two romantic subplots and the photography is luscious. One of the great things about Crouching Tiger is the strong portrayal of the female characters who are very much the heart of story.
