Santiago (Kuno Becker) transfers to Real Madrid, the biggest football club in the world, and he finds life gets harder the bigger you get. And that’s about the plot summed up.

All the same faces from the first film are here, (Alessandro Nivola, Stephen Dillane, and Anna Friel) and they seem to have been given the same script too. The story is so slim (Santiago struggles but comes good) that the whole thing is incredibly boring. Clement and La Frenais are noticeably absent this time around. You’re barely even aware that we’re in the beautiful city of Madrid.

This is disappointing stuff, and I have to say I am not looking forward to watching the final part of the trilogy, set during the World Cup.
