Michael Lynch (Kevin Spacey) is a gangster in Dublin. He’s also a families man (Helen Baxendale and Linda Fiorentino are the respective wives, who are happy to share the charismatic rogue). Lynch loves nothing better than getting one over on the local constabulary and as his escapades become more audacious, so the risks increase resulting in fatal consequences. The presence of Kevin Spacey in virtually every scene gives Ordinary Decent Criminal a value it probably doesn’t deserve. It’s engaging enough but the rest of the cast is nowhere near his league. As he did for ‘Ravenous’, Damon Albarn contributes an original score, toe-tappingly noisy brit rock.
